YIELD TO RESISTANCE (2022)

Conceived as a new series of one-off performance events, YIELD TO RESISTANCE has been presented twice in Melbourne:

Yield to Resistance @temperance.hall, at Temperance Hall, South Melbourne on 19 February, 2022, a two hour event supported by the City of Port Phillip

Yield to Resistance at Dancehouse, Melbourne, on 2 April, 2022, a four hour event supported by the Australia Council for the Arts and Creative Victoria.

Referencing feminist activism, Yield to Resistance extends choreographer Sandra Parker’s examination into the relationships between bodies and subjects, regulation and control.  The work draws on practices of occupations and sit-ins, with the dancers inhabiting the space across the entire event.

Yield to Resistance follows previous full-length choreographic works ‘Small Details’ and ‘Adherence’, examining the strictures of choreographic form performed by a trio of dancers.

Yield to Resistance is performed by Arabella Frahn-Starkie, Caroline Meaden and Oonagh Slater.

Composer/Musician: Kaylie Melville
