SAFEHOLD (in development) (2024)

A new work-in-development, SAFEHOLD will be completed for presentation in 2024.

SAFEHOLD commenced during a residency at The Australian Ballet in late 2022, culminating in a work-in-progress showing as part of the ‘Frame’ biennial of dance at The Australian Ballet studios, The Primrose Potter Australian Ballet Centre, in March 2023. In August 2023, a second stage of development was undertaken at Lucy Guerin Inc, with support from the Australia Council for the Arts.

SAFEHOLD is a choreography for three dancers, extending the focus in Sandra Parker’s practice on rigorous composition, ensemble practice, and the juncture between choreography and individual performance.

In 2024, SAFEHOLD will be performed by Anika de Ruyter, Rachel Mackie and Oliver Savariego.

This project has been created through the support of The Australian Ballet inaugural Residency Program. 2nd stage development supported by LGI through a studio residency at WXYZ Studios. The development of ‘Safehold’ has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
